TRES NUIT REVIEW

The cleanness of Tres Nuit comes from it having traces of fragrance notes we associate with soaps. It has echoes of so much that we connect to soaps and detergents. The same goes for Claiborne Sport. It’s a way to trick the brain into smelling cleanliness. Of course, this trick will work best if the wearer is actually clean and there are no base notes of body odor to linger under the scent.

A fragrance that becomes associated with someone’s attempt to hide their poor hygiene can itself become disgusting, even when you smell it on a clean person. The scent takes on the ghost notes of remembered filth.

The triangular bottle is absurd. It strikes me as the product of someone with no ideas, desperately trying to be imaginative. It is what somebody who never thought about masculinity before might use to depict masculinity. Maybe someone in high school. Or maybe this is what they think with catch the market’s eye. It’s a dresser tchotchke bottle. It is awkward to use but the atomizer has proven itself adequate thus far.

No one will be impressed by Tres Nuit, including the people who like how it smells. The point of this kind of fragrance is not to impress you, it is simply to help you get through a work day by creating a set of mildly positive impressions among people who don’t particularly want to interact with you but have to because their job requires it.

It’s sweeter than Febreze or Gain but alone those same lines. Along the same lines as Irish Spring as well. You know what this is. You know what Aspen is, as well. It is a cologne for guys who don’t care about cologne. It aims to please by evoking what everybody thinks is ok.
